Biography
Jean Van Hamme is a Belgian novelist and comic book writer. Born on 16 January 1939 in Brussels, he studied business administration at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management. He worked as a journalist and in the marketing department of Philips before becoming a full-time writer in 1976.
Van Hamme wrote the screenplay for the film Diva (1981). He is known for creating and scripting the comic series Thorgal (from 1977, with Grzegorz Rosiński), XIII (from 1984, with William Vance) and Largo Winch (from 1990, with Philippe Francq), as well as the series Les Maîtres de l'orge.
