Biography
Jeanne Cagney was an American actress who appeared in film, stage and television. She is best known for playing Josie Cohan, the sister of the title character, in the 1942 musical Yankee Doodle Dandy opposite her brother James Cagney.
Born in New York City, Cagney graduated from Hunter College and studied acting at the Pasadena Playhouse. She made her film debut in 1939 and went on to appear in titles including Quicksand (1950), Don't Bother to Knock (1952) and Man of a Thousand Faces (1957). She also performed on Broadway in productions such as The Iceman Cometh (1946).
Cagney's screen career spanned until the mid-1960s.
