Biography
Jeff Burton (1924–1988) was an American character actor. Born John Alexander Jones in Worcester, Massachusetts, he served eleven years in the US Army, reaching the rank of captain, before beginning his acting career in theatrical stock companies. He made his screen debut in the early 1960s and appeared in numerous television episodes and films until the mid-1970s.
He is best known for playing the astronaut Dodge in Planet of the Apes (1968). Other film roles include Dr. Brannan in Coffy (1973), a policeman in Sweet Charity (1969), and Shamrock in the television series Batman (1966). He also appeared in In Like Flint (1967), Madame X (1966) and The Fugitive (1963). In later years he worked as a parole officer in Los Angeles.
