Biography
Jeffrey Hatcher is an American playwright and screenwriter. Born in Steubenville, Ohio, he graduated from Denison University in 1980 with a BFA in Theatre and Cinema. He briefly studied acting at New York University before turning to writing in the mid-1980s.
Hatcher has written numerous stage plays performed on Broadway, Off-Broadway and in regional theatres, including Compleat Female Stage Beauty (later adapted as the screenplay for Stage Beauty, 2004), Three Viewings and the stage adaptation of Tuesdays with Morrie (with Mitch Albom). His screenplays include Casanova (2005), The Duchess (2008), Mr. Holmes (2015) and The Good Liar (2019). He has also written episodes of Columbo (1998) and The Mentalist (2014).
