Biography

Jeffrey Lau Chun-Wai is a Hong Kong director, screenwriter, producer and occasional actor. He studied graphic design in the United Kingdom before returning to Hong Kong to work in advertising.

He co-founded film companies Century Films and Wu Zhou Century Films with Dennis Yu in 1980. Lau made his directorial debut with The Haunted Cop Shop (1987). His credits as director and writer include All for the Winner (1990), The Eagle Shooting Heroes (1993), The Legend (1993) and the two A Chinese Odyssey films (1995).

As a producer he worked on several Wong Kar-wai films, including Chungking Express (1994), Ashes of Time (1994) and Fallen Angels (1995), as well as Kung Fu Hustle (2004).
