Biography
Jerome Courtland (also credited as Jerome "Jerry" Courtland) was an American actor, director and producer. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, he began his career in the 1940s with film roles including Johnny Howard in The Man from Colorado (1948) and Abner Spudler in Battleground (1949). He also appeared in Tokyo Joe (1949) and sang in Old Yeller (1957).
Courtland later moved into television, appearing in series such as The Rifleman (1958) and starring in the 1957 Disneyland miniseries "The Saga of Andy Burnett". From the late 1960s he worked as a director and producer on shows including The Flying Nun, Dynasty, The Love Boat, Falcon Crest and Knots Landing, as well as Disney films such as Escape to Witch Mountain (1975) and Pete's Dragon (1977). He retired in 1993.
