Biography
Jesse L. Martin is an American actor and singer. He was born Jesse Lamont Watkins on 18 January 1969 in Rocky Mount, Virginia, and later adopted his stepfather's surname. He studied at New York University and began his career in theatre.
Martin originated the role of Tom Collins in the Broadway musical Rent (1996). He is best known for portraying NYPD Detective Ed Green on Law & Order from 1999 to 2008 across 198 episodes, and for playing Captain Joe West on The Flash (2014–2023).
