Biography
Jim Carmichael (also credited as James Carmichael) was an American animator, layout artist and background designer. Born in Los Angeles, California, he worked at Walt Disney Studios in the late 1930s and early 1940s on Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse shorts, including layout on Donald's Better Self (1938) and background design on Sea Scouts (1939) and Mr. Mouse Takes a Trip (1940).
He provided the uncredited voice of Dopey Crow in the Disney feature Dumbo (1941). After leaving Disney, Carmichael contributed to animation at other studios, including Hanna-Barbera, with credits on series such as Cattanooga Cats (1969), The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan (1972) and The Flintstone Comedy Hour (1972). He died in Los Angeles in 1988.
