Biography
Jim Fritzell was an American television and film screenwriter. He was born James Gustave Fritzell on 19 February 1920 in San Francisco, California, and died on 9 March 1979 in Los Angeles, California.
Fritzell had a 22-year creative partnership with Everett Greenbaum, during which they collaborated on more than 150 scripts. Their work included episodes of The Real McCoys (1957–62), The Andy Griffith Show (1960–68) and MASH* (1972), for which they wrote 35 episodes. The pair received three Writers Guild of America awards and four Emmy Award nominations.
Fritzell also wrote several feature films with Greenbaum, including Good Neighbor Sam (1964), The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (1966), The Reluctant Astronaut (1967), Angel in My Pocket (1969) and The Shakiest Gun in the West (1968). He was credited as a creator of the sitcom The Doris Day Show.
