Biography
Jim Gérald (born Gérald Ernest Cuénod) was a French actor. He was born on 4 July 1889 in Paris and died there on 2 July 1958.
He appeared in more than a hundred films from 1911, usually in supporting roles. He worked repeatedly with director René Clair during the silent era, including in The Imaginary Voyage (1926), The Italian Straw Hat (1927) and Two Timid Souls (1928). Later credits include Moulin Rouge (1952) as Le Père Cotelle and The Barefoot Contessa (1954) as Mr Blue.
Gérald had an adventurous early life that included time as a cowboy in North America and work in the circus and music hall. He published a memoir, Du Far-West au cinéma, in 1945.
