Biography
Jim Leonard is an American television writer and producer, also credited as Jim Leonard Jr. He wrote the episode "Beauty and the Beast" for the fifth season of Dexter (2010).
He began his career as a playwright and was playwright-in-residence at New York's Circle Repertory Theatre, where he premiered numerous plays Off Broadway. He attended Hanover College in Indiana and later moved to Los Angeles. He learned screenwriting from Robert Altman.
Leonard created the series Close to Home (2005–2007), Skin (2003–2005) and Thieves (2001–2002). He has written episodes for The Closer (2011–2012), Major Crimes (2012–2015) and Ray Donovan (2019–2020), and served as a producer on several of these shows. He received a Writers Guild of America nomination for drama series work on Dexter.
