Biography
Jinpachi Nezu (also credited as 根津透) was a Japanese actor. He was born Tōru Nezu on 1 December 1947 in Tsuru, Yamanashi, Japan, and died on 29 December 2016 in Tokyo.
He appeared in more than 50 films and television shows between 1974 and 2010. His roles include Sohachiro Tsuchiya in Kagemusha (1980) and Jiro Masatora Ichimonji in Ran (1985), both directed by Akira Kurosawa. He also voiced the Boy in Angel's Egg (1985) and Yukihito Tsuge in Patlabor 2: The Movie (1993). He starred as Yukio Yamazawa in Farewell to the Land (1982), which was entered into the 32nd Berlin International Film Festival.
Nezu retired from acting after a car accident and subsequent health problems but returned to reprise the role of Kaname Hizu in Gonin Saga (2015) at the request of director Takashi Ishii. The film was his last. He died of pneumonia.
