Biography
Jo Ann Marlowe (born Jo Ann Mares) was an American child actress. Discovered by a Hollywood director at around four years old while on a family trip to Los Angeles, she relocated with her family to California and adopted the stage name Jo Ann Marlowe. She appeared in around 29 films between 1942 and 1950.
Her credited roles include Kay Pierce in Mildred Pierce (1945) and Mimi De Pierremont in A Scandal in Paris (1946). She also had an uncredited part as Jenny as a girl in The Strange Woman (1946). Other credits include Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942) and Little Iodine (1946).
After retiring from acting in the early 1950s, Marlowe studied law at Loyola University in Los Angeles and became a lawyer. She served as Chief Trial Lawyer for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles. She died in Los Angeles in 1991.
