Biography
Jo Southwell is a director and writer working in television, film and immersive formats. She has directed episodes of the BBC series Doctors and an episode of Call the Midwife for Neal Street Productions, the latter longlisted for a National Television Award for Drama Performance.
She trained in continuing drama and undertook shadow director placements on Killing Eve and Trigger Point. Her award-winning short films, including Echo and Deirdre, have screened at BAFTA-, BIFA- and Oscar-qualifying festivals. In 2024 she co-founded the production company Mermaid Pictures Ltd with producer Sara Gibbings.
