Biography
Joanna Lee (1931–2003) was an American actress, writer, producer and director. She began her career in small acting roles in the late 1950s, including the part of Tanna in the film Plan 9 from Outer Space (1957).
Following a car accident in 1961 that ended her acting work, Lee became a television writer. She contributed episodes to series including My Three Sons (1962), The Flintstones (more than twenty scripts and creator of the character The Great Gazoo), Gilligan's Island, The Brady Bunch and The Waltons. In 1974 she won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for a Thanksgiving episode of The Waltons.
Lee later formed her own production company and wrote, produced and directed several made-for-television films and specials, often addressing social issues such as teenage pregnancy and divorce.
