Biography
Joanna Pettet (born Joanna Jane Salmon) was an English-Canadian actress. She was born in London on 16 November 1942 and raised in Montreal after her mother remarried following the death of her father, a Royal Air Force pilot, in the Second World War. She moved to New York as a teenager and trained at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre.
Pettet began her career on Broadway in the early 1960s before making her film debut in The Group (1966). She appeared in several films released in 1967, including The Night of the Generals, Robbery and as Mata Bond in Casino Royale. Her later screen work included guest roles in television series such as Knight Rider, Murder, She Wrote and Night Gallery, and the film The Evil (1978). She retired from acting in 1990.
Pettet was married to actor Alex Cord from 1968 to 1989. She died on 7 July 2026 in Temecula, California.
