Biography
Joanne Dru, born Joan Letitia LaCock, was an American actress. She moved to New York in 1940 and worked as a model before appearing in the Broadway musical Hold On to Your Hats. Her film debut came in Abie's Irish Rose (1946).
Dru appeared in several notable films of the late 1940s and early 1950s, including the Westerns Red River (1948), She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949) and Wagon Master (1950), as well as the political drama All the King's Men (1949), in which she played Anne Stanton. She later worked in television into the 1970s. She was the sister of actor and television host Peter Marshall.
