Biography
Joanne Rogers (born Sara Joanne Byrd) was an American pianist, actress and the wife of television presenter Fred Rogers. She studied piano at Rollins College in Florida, where she met her future husband, and later earned a master's degree in music from Florida State University. She performed as a concert pianist and taught music before and during her marriage.
Rogers appeared as herself in the documentary Won't You Be My Neighbor? (2018), discussing her husband's work, and had an uncredited role as a restaurant patron in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (2019). She also contributed voices and performances to Mister Rogers' Neighborhood and later served as chair emerita of Fred Rogers Productions, helping to preserve his legacy after his death in 2003. She died in Pittsburgh in 2021.
