Biography

Jocelyn Rickards was an Australian costume designer. Born in Melbourne in 1924, she studied art at East Sydney Technical College and moved to London in 1949. She began her career in theatre before entering film as assistant costume designer on The Prince and the Showgirl (1957).

Her film credits include Look Back in Anger (1959), The Entertainer (1960), From Russia with Love (1963), The Knack... and How to Get It (1965), Blow-Up (1966), Mademoiselle (1966), Morgan! (1966), Ryan's Daughter (1970) and Sunday Bloody Sunday (1971). She won a BAFTA Film Award for Mademoiselle and was nominated for an Academy Award for Morgan!.

Rickards was married to film director Clive Donner from 1971. She published the autobiography The Painted Banquet: My Life and Loves in 1987 and later taught costume design at the University of Southern California.
