Biography
Joe Kaufmann was an American film producer. Born in Chicago in 1911, he attended the University of Chicago and began his career in the film industry as a broker and salesman before becoming head buyer for the Balaban & Katz theatre chain.
In 1944 he joined Monogram Pictures as a producer. He later formed his own company, Joseph Kaufman Productions, in 1949. His credits include associate producer on It Happened on Fifth Avenue (1947) and producer on Pandora and the Flying Dutchman (1951) and Sudden Fear (1952).
Other productions include Long John Silver (1955), Another Time, Another Place (1958) and Black Tights (1961). Kaufmann died in New York City in 1961.
