Biography
Joe Maross was an American stage, film and television actor. Born Joseph Raymond Maross on 7 February 1923 in Barnesboro, Pennsylvania, he served in the US Marine Corps during the Second World War and later graduated with a degree in theatre arts from Yale University in 1947.
His career spanned more than four decades, beginning with Broadway appearances in the late 1940s and early 1950s and moving into film and television from the mid-1950s. He appeared in films including Run Silent, Run Deep (1958), Elmer Gantry (1960) as Pete, Sometimes a Great Notion (1971) and Rich and Famous (1981). Maross was a frequent guest star on television series such as The Twilight Zone, Perry Mason, Mission: Impossible, The Six Million Dollar Man and Murder, She Wrote.
He was a founding member of the Los Angeles theatre group Projects 58 and a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Maross died on 7 November 2009 in Glendale, California.
