Biography

Joel Collins is a British production designer and executive producer. He began his career in the early 1990s as a creature designer at Jim Henson's Creature Shop, working on films including The Flintstones (1994) and Muppet Treasure Island (1996).

He collaborated with the directing duo Hammer & Tongs on The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005) and Son of Rambow (2007). In 2007 he co-founded the creative studio Painting Practice. Collins served as series production designer on Black Mirror (2011–2017) across 19 episodes, overseeing design, graphics and visual effects for the anthology series.

He later worked as production designer and executive producer on His Dark Materials (2019–2022). Collins has received multiple BAFTA nominations and awards for production design and visual effects.
