Biography
Joey Batey is an English actor and musician. Born in 1989 in Newcastle upon Tyne, he studied Modern and Medieval Languages at Robinson College, Cambridge, and trained at L'École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris.
Batey is best known for playing the bard Jaskier (also credited as The Sandpiper) in the Netflix series The Witcher (2019–), a role he has reprised in The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022) and voiced in The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep (2025). His other screen credits include The White Queen (2013) as Edward of Westminster, The Riot Club (2014), Knightfall (2017) as Pierre, The War of the Worlds (2019) as Henderson, and Billy the Kid (2022). He is a member of the alt-folk band The Amazing Devil.
