Biography

John Berkes was an American actor. Born in Trenton, New Jersey, he began his career as a stage performer, appearing on Broadway under the names Johnnie Berkes or Johnny Berkes before transitioning to film in the mid-1930s.

He appeared in more than seventy films, often in supporting or uncredited roles. His credits include Ace in the Hole (1951) as Papa Minosa, The Egg and I (1947) as Geoduck, Blonde Alibi (1946) as Louie Comey, and Romance on the High Seas (1948) as The Drunk (credited as Johnny Berkes).

Berkes died in Hollywood, California, in 1951.
