Biography

John Blackie is a Canadian production designer whose credits include the horror comedy Tucker and Dale vs. Evil (2010). He has worked extensively in film and television, with notable production design on the Disney film Togo (2019) and the Showtime miniseries The Good Lord Bird (2020).

Blackie’s television work encompasses long-running series such as Hell on Wheels (2011–2016), for which he designed over 50 episodes, as well as Copper (2012–2013) and episodes of Fargo. His career, spanning more than 35 years, also includes earlier credits on The Ray Bradbury Theater and Bye Bye Blues (1989). He has received multiple awards and nominations from bodies including the Art Directors Guild and the Directors Guild of Canada.
