Biography

John Darrow, also credited as Harry Simpson, was an American actor of the late silent and early talking eras. Born Harry Simpson on 17 July 1907 in Leonia, New Jersey, he began acting in theatre with a stock company after high school and made his film debut in 1927.

He appeared in featured and leading roles in films including The Racket (1928), Hell's Angels (1930) and Flirtation Walk (1934). His final screen appearance was in Annapolis Farewell (1935). He retired from acting in the mid-1930s and became a successful talent agent.

Darrow was in a relationship with film director Charles Walters from 1936 until his death on 24 February 1980 in Malibu, California. He was the uncle of actress Barbara Darrow.
