Biography
John Dove is an American television writer and producer. A former New York City Police Department detective lieutenant who served for 21 years after joining in 1982, he later transitioned to screenwriting.
He began in television as a consultant in the writers' room on CSI: NY in 2005, becoming a staff writer and rising to co-executive producer by the series' end in 2013. He subsequently wrote and produced episodes of Hawaii Five-0 (2013–2016), Chicago P.D. (2017–2018), Frequency (2016–2017), L.A.'s Finest (2019–2020) and Boston Blue (2025–2026).
Dove holds a bachelor's degree in English from Empire State College and has contributed opinion pieces to the New York Daily News and Daily Wire.
