Biography
Karen Gaviola is an American television director and producer. She entered the industry through the Directors Guild of America Assistant Director Training Program and worked as a freelance assistant director before making her directing debut on NYPD Blue. She has since directed more than 150 television episodes across numerous series.
Gaviola is known for her work on Lost, for which she directed two episodes between 2006 and 2007. In 2007 she won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Directing in a Dramatic Series for the episode 'The Whole Truth'. Her other directing credits include episodes of The Walking Dead, Lucifer, The Boys, Prison Break, CSI: Miami, Criminal Minds and The Blacklist. She has also served as a producer or co-executive producer on series including Lucifer, Hawaii Five-0 and Paper Girls.
A second-generation Filipina American, Gaviola is a graduate of Immaculate Heart High School in Los Angeles and Harvard College. She has held positions on the Directors Guild of America national board and is a member of the Producers Guild of America and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
