Biography
John Flaus is an Australian actor born in 1934 in Maroubra, Sydney, New South Wales. He began acting in 1969, appearing in the short film The American Poet's Visit directed by Michael Thornhill, and has since accumulated over 100 credits in film, television and theatre.
Flaus is known for voice roles including Harvey Krumpet, Ken and Len Hislop in Mary and Max (2009) and the title character in Harvie Krumpet (2003). Other notable screen appearances include Sergeant Mick Kennedy in The Castle (1997), Sallay in Tracks (2013) and the recurring role of Wilbur in the Jack Irish series and films (2012–2021).
Beyond acting, he has worked as a script editor on several Australian productions, written film criticism since 1954, and taught film appreciation and studies at institutions including the Australian Film, Television and Radio School and La Trobe University.
