Biography
John Gordon Sinclair is a Scottish actor born Gordon John Sinclair on 4 February 1962 in Glasgow. He began as an apprentice electrician before joining Glasgow's Youth Theatre at the age of 15. He took his professional name after discovering that Equity already had a member registered as Gordon John.
Sinclair is best known for his role as Gregory in Bill Forsyth's Gregory's Girl (1981). He appeared in several other Forsyth films, including Local Hero (1983) and Erik the Viking (1989), in which he played Ivar the Boneless. He reprised the role of Gregory in Gregory's Two Girls (1999) and has worked extensively in theatre, television and radio.
His stage credits include a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical for She Loves Me (1995). Other screen roles include appearances in Britannia Hospital (1982), World War Z (2013) and episodes of Death in Paradise and McDonald & Dodds.
