Biography
John Guare is an American playwright and screenwriter. Born in New York City on 5 February 1938, he was educated at Georgetown University and Yale University, where he received an MFA in 1963.
Guare is known for his plays The House of Blue Leaves (1971) and Six Degrees of Separation (1990). He wrote the screenplay for the film Atlantic City (1980), directed by Louis Malle, and adapted his own play for the 1993 screen version of Six Degrees of Separation. He has received an Academy Award nomination for the Atlantic City screenplay, as well as Tony and Obie awards for his stage work.
