Biography
John Gürtler is a London-born, Berlin-based composer and multi-instrumentalist. He studied film music and sound design at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and has worked extensively in film and television, often in collaboration with pianist Jan Miserre.
Gürtler is known for his scores for System Crasher (2019), directed by Nora Fingscheidt, for which he received the European Film Award for Best Original Score, A Mouthful of Air (2021) and The Outrun (2024), the latter also directed by Fingscheidt. His work frequently blends electronic and acoustic elements, and he has received additional awards including the German Film Award for Best Sound and the German Film Critics Award for Best Score.
