Biography
John Hayes is an IFTA-nominated director based in Dublin, Ireland. He has directed episodes of the ITV crime drama Vera (2017), the BBC/Starz series Dublin Murders (2019), the BBC mini-series Nightsleeper (2024) and This City Is Ours (2025), and the Hulu/RTE series Obituary (2023).
Earlier credits include the entire first season of the ITV drama Bancroft (2017), the ITV/Virgin Media mini-series Redemption (2022), episodes of Home Fires (2016), and mini-episodes of Doctor Who (2013). He has also worked as second unit director on Game of Thrones, Strike Back, Vikings and Camelot.
Hayes directed the award-winning short films Two Fat Ladies (2003), Venom (2006), The Girl (2012) and Anywhere But Here (2014). He is also a commercials director whose work for brands including Guinness, Heineken, Coca-Cola, Aviva and SEAT has won international awards.
