Biography

John Henry Faulk (1913–1990) was an American storyteller, radio show host and actor. Born in Austin, Texas, he developed his skills as a folklorist at the University of Texas and later hosted radio programmes including The John Henry Faulk Show on CBS.

Faulk appeared in several films, including as Governor T.T. Claypoole in The Best Man (1964) and as the Storyteller in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974). He also had roles in All the Way Home (1963), Lovin' Molly (1974) and Leadbelly (1976), and made television appearances on series such as Hee Haw.

His successful libel lawsuit against blacklisters in the entertainment industry helped end the Hollywood blacklist of the McCarthy era.
