Biography

John J. Campbell was an American cinematographer. Born in Ohio in 1950, he worked on independent features and documentaries, frequently in the Pacific Northwest.

He served as director of photography on Gus Van Sant's Mala Noche (1986), My Own Private Idaho (1991, shared credit with Eric Alan Edwards) and Even Cowgirls Get the Blues (1993). Other credits include Sisters (2006).

Campbell died in Portland, Oregon, on 8 December 2019.
