Biography
John MacCarthy was a Canadian director, producer and assistant director. He worked extensively on the television series Supernatural (2005), serving as first assistant director on 107 episodes between 2006 and 2018 and directing four episodes: "The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo" (2012), "Rock and a Hard Place" (2013), "Ask Jeeves" (2014) and "The Raid" (2017). He also directed the television film Cold Zone (2017).
Earlier in his career MacCarthy held second assistant director and second unit first assistant director positions on feature films including Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004), Elektra (2005), Final Destination 3 (2006) and Snakes on a Plane (2006). He later worked as a producer on several television films. MacCarthy passed away in August 2023.
