Biography
John McClain (1953–2026) was an American music executive and film producer. He served as co-executor of Michael Jackson’s estate alongside John Branca following the singer’s death in 2009.
McClain worked extensively on Jackson-related projects, including as executive producer on This Is It (2009), Bad 25 (2012), Michael Jackson’s Halloween (2017) and Michael Jackson: Live at Wembley July 16, 1988 (2012). He was a producer on the biopic Michael (2026). He also produced the Broadway musical MJ.
Earlier in his career he held roles at A&M Records and contributed to Janet Jackson’s breakthrough albums. McClain died in Los Angeles on 26 May 2026 from complications of a fall.
