Biography
John Meehan was a Canadian screenwriter and playwright. Born in Lindsay, Ontario, he began his career as a stage actor before writing for the theatre and then moving into film in the late 1920s.
He received Academy Award nominations for Best Writing for The Divorcee (1930) and, with Dore Schary, for Boys Town (1938). Meehan wrote or contributed to more than thirty films between 1929 and 1948, including A Free Soul (1931), The Miracle Woman (1931), Madame X (1937) and The Valley of Decision (1945). He died in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, in 1954.
