Biography
John Seabourne Sr. was a British film editor active from the 1930s to the 1950s. Born in 1890 in Colchester, Essex, he began his career editing British Gaumont newsreels in the early 1930s before moving into feature films. He is sometimes credited as Dr. Seabourne and is distinguished from his son, also a film editor.
Seabourne edited numerous British productions, including several by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger. His credits include Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street (1936), The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp (1943), A Canterbury Tale (1944), I Know Where I'm Going! (1945), The History of Mr. Polly (1949) and A King in New York (1957).
