Biography

John T. Murray was an Australian stage and film actor. Born in Melbourne in 1886, he began his career in vaudeville and appeared in Broadway productions including The Passing Show of 1915 and The Yankee Princess (1922). He later moved into film work, with credits spanning the 1920s to the early 1940s.

Murray is credited in numerous Hollywood films, often in small or uncredited roles. These include Lost Horizon (1937) as Meeker, Foreign Correspondent (1940), Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936), Murders in the Rue Morgue (1932), Boom Town (1940) and Broadway Melody of 1940 (1940). He was married to actress Vivien Oakland, with whom he had performed on stage.
