Biography
John W. Holmes (12 April 1917 – 25 May 2001) was an American film editor. He worked on feature films from the mid-1960s to the early 1980s, with credits including Goodbye Charlie (1964), The Only Game in Town (1970), Showdown (1973), Just You and Me, Kid (1979) and Popeye (1980).
Holmes co-edited The Andromeda Strain (1971) with Stuart Gilmore and Diamonds Are Forever (1971) with Bert Bates. He received an Academy Award nomination for Best Film Editing, shared with Gilmore, for The Andromeda Strain at the 44th Academy Awards.
