Biography

John Westbrook (1 November 1922 – 16 June 1989) was an English actor. Born in Teignmouth, Devon, he worked mainly in theatre and radio, making occasional film and television appearances.

His film roles included Jack Wales in Room at the Top (1959), Christopher Gough in The Tomb of Ligeia (1964) and the voice of Treebeard in the 1978 animated The Lord of the Rings. He also appeared in The Masque of the Red Death (1964) and North Sea Hijack (1980). Westbrook recorded radio plays, audiobooks and spoken parts for orchestral works including An Oxford Elegy by Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Television credits included Muller in Blake's 7 (1981) and historical roles such as James II in the BBC series The First Churchills (1969).
