Biography
Johnny Hardwick, also credited as John Michael Hardwick, was an American voice actor, comedian, writer and producer. He provided the voice of Dale Gribble on the animated series King of the Hill (1997) throughout its original 13-season run, appearing in 257 of 258 episodes, and contributed as a staff writer, story editor and producer on the show.
Hardwick began his career performing stand-up comedy in Texas. He was hired as a writer for King of the Hill after a performance seen by co-creator Greg Daniels. As a producer on the series he shared a Primetime Emmy Award in 1999 for Outstanding Animated Program, and received additional nominations. He later maintained a YouTube channel featuring song parodies and monologues in the voice of Dale Gribble.
Hardwick died on 8 August 2023 in Austin, Texas, aged 64. He had recorded lines for six episodes of a King of the Hill revival prior to his death.
