Biography
Jon Cohen is an American novelist and screenwriter. A native of Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, he worked as a critical care nurse in Philadelphia before turning to writing. He taught himself screenwriting from books and published several novels, including Max Lakeman and the Beautiful Stranger (1991), The Man in the Window (1992) and Dentist Man (1993). He received a creative writing grant from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1991.
Cohen received his first Hollywood assignment in 1997, rewriting a screenplay based on Philip K. Dick’s short story “The Minority Report” for director Jan de Bont. Steven Spielberg later brought in Scott Frank to revise the script further. Cohen shares screenplay credit with Frank on the 2002 film Minority Report. The pair won the Saturn Award for Best Writing. Cohen later published the novel Harry’s Trees (2018).
