Biography

Jon Manchip White was a Welsh-American writer and screenwriter. Born in Cardiff in 1924, he studied at the University of Cambridge and worked as a story editor for the BBC Television Service before joining the British Foreign Service.

From the mid-1950s he wrote screenplays and teleplays, contributing to films including Crack in the World (1965) and episodes of The Avengers (1961). He later moved to the United States, where he taught at the University of Texas at El Paso and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, founding creative writing programmes at both institutions. He died in Knoxville in 2013.
