Biography
Jonathan Kirkscey is an American composer, producer, cellist and guitarist based in Memphis. He performs regularly with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and is a founding member of the contemporary classical chamber ensemble Blueshift Ensemble.
As a film composer, Kirkscey scored the documentaries Won't You Be My Neighbor? (2018), directed by Morgan Neville, and Best of Enemies (2015), directed by Neville and Robert Gordon. His score for the latter received the International Documentary Association award for best original music in a documentary feature. Other feature scores include Cigarette Girl (2009), The Poor and Hungry (2000) and Only Child (2015). He has also composed for Netflix series including Chelsea Does and Abstract: The Art of Design.
