Biography
Jonathan Richman is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist. He founded the proto-punk band the Modern Lovers in 1970 and has released numerous solo albums since the mid-1970s, often performing with acoustic backing.
Richman has also worked in film. He appeared as a member of the tavern band in Kingpin (1996) and performed songs while playing the character Jonathan in There's Something About Mary (1998). He is credited as a narrator and composer on the latter. He later appeared as himself in the documentary The Velvet Underground (2021).
