Biography
Jonathan Sagall (born 23 April 1959) is a Canadian-born Israeli actor, director, producer and screenwriter. Born in Toronto to a Jewish family, he moved to Israel as a child and grew up in Haifa. His mother, Ruth Sagall, was an actress at the Haifa Theatre. He trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London.
Sagall began his acting career in Israeli television and gained prominence playing Momo (also credited as Bobby) in the 1978 film Lemon Popsicle and several sequels, including Going Steady (1979), Hot Bubblegum (1981), Private Popsicle (1982), Baby Love (1984), Young Love (1987) and Summertime Blues (1988). He appeared as Poldek Pfefferberg in Steven Spielberg's Schindler's List (1993) and played the lead in Amos Guttman's Drifting (1983).
As a filmmaker, Sagall wrote and directed Urban Feel (1999, also known as Kesher Ir), which competed at the Berlin International Film Festival, and Lipstikka (2011, also known as Odem), which also screened at Berlin. He has written and produced other shorts and features.
