Biography

Jong Lin, also credited as Lin Liang-chung (林良忠) or Josh Lin, is a Taiwanese cinematographer. Born in 1958 in Taichung, he is the son of cinematographer Lin Tsan-ting. He earned an MFA from New York University’s film and television programme.

Lin began his feature career as director of photography on Ang Lee’s Pushing Hands (1992), followed by The Wedding Banquet (1993) and Eat Drink Man Woman (1994); the last of these brought him the Independent Spirit Award for Best Cinematography. He has worked with directors including Gurinder Chadha on Bend It Like Beckham (2002) and What’s Cooking? (2000), and on Chinese films such as Blind Mountain (2007) and Sunflower (2005).
