Biography
Jonnie Barnett was an American singer-songwriter and composer. Born Jonathan Barnett Kaye on 12 December 1945 in Sumter, South Carolina, he died on 18 August 2002 in Nashville, Tennessee.
He contributed original music to the 1975 film Nashville, writing and performing the song 'My Baby's Cookin' in Another Man's Pan'. Barnett also appeared in the film and in Cheech and Chong's Next Movie (1980). In later years he worked as a Nashville-based songwriter; his composition 'The Chain of Love', co-written with Rory Lee Feek, became a Top 5 country hit for Clay Walker in 2000. Another of his songs, 'One Foot in the Blues', recorded by Johnny Adams, won Blues Song of the Year at the 1997 W. C. Handy Blues Awards.
